'Till the last breath' Mufti promises to work for dignified return of KPs to valley | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 22: Reiterating his resolve to work for an honourable and dignified return of Kashmiri Pandits to the valley, PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today issued a clarion call to the KPs to regain their roots and contribute as stake holders in his party's mission to change the destiny of the state. "Till my last breath, I shall continue to make efforts for the return of Kashmiri Pandits to their homes and hearths" Mufti said, adding, "I assure you that Kashmir is going to become the island of peace". He urged upon the KP community to seek there democratic rights and start going to Kashmir and live their along with their children. "Regain your roots, make your generations of the rich cultural heritage and do not sell off your properties as to keep the ethnicity of Kashmir alive, we have no alternative except you" Mufti said. "Your community has been bestowed with superior intellect and your children are bound to excel where ever they go but they need to have their roots deep and strong" he added. Terming former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as the real statesman, mufti said that he tried to address real problems of the state by extending hand of friendship towards Pakistan and ensuring free and fair elections in the state. "I told Atalji that in Kashmir people think that the legislators and the chief ministers in Jammu and Kashmir are decided not by them but New Delhi. He assured me free and fair elections in the state in 2002 and farooq Abdullah was defeated by Qazi Mohammad Afzal of our party from his bastion in Ganderbal" said Mufti. "By his peace initiative with Pakistan, from Kathua to Kargil, the borders turned tranquil" he added. Accusing national conference indirectly of rigging elections in the state, mufti said that trouble erupted in Kashmir after people lost faith in democratic process. "Elections shall be won by someone and someone else shall be declared winner" mufti said. "Leadership failed people of Kashmir and not the government of India" he emphasized. Highlighting the achievements of his Government, Mufti said, "61thousand youths were recruited as ReTs and 30 thousand were recruited as Anganwari workers, but I refused to extend any out of turn favours to my closest relatives" Mufti said enumerating policies of healing touch that provided a framework for holding talks even with the militants within the framework of Indian constitution and setting up of the State Accountability Commission as other landmarks of his governance. |
