Seminar on Late Aasya Jeelani held at Al-Hira Public School Doda

Kishtwar, Apr 23: Forum for Peace and Development (FFPD), a member organization of Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society on Monday organized a Seminar on "Role of Social Worker in Society" in memory of Renowned Human and Social Activist Late Aasya Jeelani on his 8th death anniversary at Al-Hira Public School Doda
Renowned Social Activist and Retired Principal, Yoj Raj Thakur was the Chief Guest while Principal of the School Bashir Ahmed Banday presided over the Programme.
Earlier the programme was started with the recitation of Hamad (Prayer) by the students of Al-Hira Public School. However students drawn from Al-Hira Public School and Asraria Model School Doda including Tahir Ahmed, Kousar Ahmed, Purna Devi, Taniya Tabassum, Qurrat-ul-Ain, Nabida Tabassum, Nuzhat Anayat, Nasir Ali, Momin Nadeem, Rizwana Tabassum and Sheezma Khurshid participated in the seminar who delivered their speeches on the life of Late Aasya Jeelani and recalled her contribution towards upliftment of society particularly women related issues.
In his inaugural speech, Ishtiaq Ahmed Dev said that Aasya Jeelani was a young journalist working with human rights monitoring group and was helping in number of local organizations. He also said that Late Aasya Jeelani always stressed the importance of women in the society which should not be forgotten as her death has resulted a terrible loss for the women moment and particularly for the down trodden sections of the society. Chairman of the Forum, Naseer Khora also spoke on the occasion who threw light on the life of Late Aasya Jeelani and asked the students to work hard for the betterment of society apart from their education. Khora appealed all the youth particularly women to come forward and render their services for overall development of the region.
Chief Guest Shri Yoj Raj Thakur in his speech congratulates the Forum for Peace and Development for organizing this seminar which would not only boost up the talent among students but aware them about the importance and work of a social worker in society.
Later on Chief Guest along with other Guests distributed prizes among all the participants.The work of Stage Secretary was carried out by Faizan Ali Tramboo while Mohammad Ishaq Aarif presented formal vote of thanks.
Among others who were present on the occasion included Lecturer Urdu Dr. Akhtar Hussain, Patron YSCC Manzoor Ahmed Batt, General Secretary DSWO Moosa Azad, Sunil Kumar, Niaz Ahmed and staff members of the School.
