JAMMU, Apr 23: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla and Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma today flagged off Bhagwan Parshuram Jayanti Shoba Yatra from Brahman Sabha Parade ground.
Addressing the devotees, Bhalla said 'Akshay Tritiya' or 'Parshuram Jayanti' is observed traditionally as the birth anniversary of Parshuram, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Akshaya Tritiya is one of the most auspicious days, according to the Hindu calendar. He said the day on which Moon, Sun and Jupiter unitedly come under Mrigshira Nakshatra is called Akshay Tritiya.
He urged the people to follow preaches of Bhagwan Parshuramji that gives new directions to them in their daily lives.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sharma greeted the people on Bhagwan Parshuram Jayanti and said Parashurama is famous for killing the Haihaya-Kshatriyas on the earth 21 times for their Ahankara (pride).
He wanted to spread and preserve the Vedic culture on earth. Parashurama is said to be a Brahmakshatriya (warrior Brahman), the first warrior saint. Parashurama is worshiped as a Founder (Mool Purush) of Chitpavan and Daivadnya Brahmin Communities.
Ashok Khajuria, Ashwani Sharma besides thousands of followers of Bhagwan Parsuram ji participated in the Shoba Yatra which was taken out from the Brahman Sabha this evening.
The idol of Bhagwan Parshuram Ji was taken in a well decorated van while a special van for Swami Ji's Yatra had come from Delhi.
As the yatra left the Parade Ground, the slogans Bhagwan Parshuram Ki Jai rented the air. Various tableaux depicting different aspects of Bhagwan Parshuram Ji's life also formed the part of the Shoba Yatra. The devotees including men women and children were singing bhajans in Praise of Bhagwan enroute.
Hundreds of devotees attired in colourful costumes were also dancing to the beating of drums and bursting crackers to mark the occasion.
The yatra passed via Parade Ground Moti Bazar, Pacca Danga, Link Road, City Chowk , Raghunath Bazar, Purani Mandi and culminated back at Parade.
People en route who had formed bee lines showered flowers petals on Shoba Yatra, paid obeisance to Bhagwan Parshuram Ji and sought blessings from Swami Ji Mahraj.
