| SRS rues hike in water, power tariff | | | Early Times report
Jammu, Apr 23 : Shri Ram Sena Jammu- Kashmir has criticized the state government for recent imposition of hike in electricity charges terming it as anti people and demanded its immediate roll back. Shri Ram Sena state president Rajiv Mahajan said that state government has miserably failed to check the pilferages and theft of electricity which results in sufferings of public.
He accused the state government and maintaining that it is bent upon to squeeze the common man of the state who is already hit by sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities. Mahajan said that state government's policy is more towards eliminating the poor than to remove poverty from the society.
Mahajan further rued the state govern ment's biased treatment towards different sections of people and different inhabitants in different regions in the state. He blamed that due to apathetic attitude of state government the people of Jammu region are the most sufferers.
He said that major part of the taxes recovered from Jammu division but people of Jammu are made to suffer the most. Mahajan exhorted the state government that it should clearly come out with the clarification that how much electricity is consumed in Jammu division and how much revenue is recovered from Jammu consumers annually and how much electricity is consumed in Kashmir division and how much revenue is recovered from the consumers there.
He questioned how much electricity is supplied in Jammu region and how much pilferage occurs in the Jammu region and how much electricity is supplied in Kashmir division and how much pilferage is there? Mahajan demanded plugging of all pilferages of electricity and supply of un-interrupted electricity to consumers in Jammu division.
He also demanded recovery of electricity tax arrears from ministers and VIPs who owe crores of rupees to Power Development Department.
He demanded to release the emoluments of these high profile gentlemen for the month of March only when they produce the clearance from the PDD regarding the electricity charges as is in vogue with other state government employees.
Mahajan demande that in no way the electricity charges be enhanced instead make the losses good by way of plugging all pilferages and recovery of arrears from defaulting consumers irrespective of their status. |
