| OUR SELF-RULE DRAFT IS READY: BAIG | | | Jammu | Jan 27 Former Deputy Chief Minister, and a senior PDP leader Mr Muzaffar Hussain Baig, on Saturday said that he is ready with the draft document on self-rule proposal and the same will be submitted during the next working group meeting on centre state relations. Head of the draft committee set up by the party Patron Mufti Mohd Sayeed,Baig told reporters during an informal interaction in the Assembly lobby on Saturday, “Yes, we are ready with the draft document on self rule.”We will now present it before the working group chairman and discuss it,he added without touching upon the highlights of the draft document. Responding to the questions on his recall from the state cabinet, he out rightly blamed Mufti Mohd.Sayeed, patron of the PDP, for not having “consulted him” before recalling “ him from the cabinet. He, however, clarified that they were able to repair their relationship in time after a temporary setback. Elaborating further, he said “I have no misunderstanding with the party Chief, Ms Mehbooba Mufti, but I am shocked over the way Mufti Mohd. Sayeed betrayed the trust he had shown to me.He treated me as his son and still he did not speak to me when he decided to recall me from the cabinet.” In reply to another question he said “The Mufti had been fed wrong information by a section of political leaders and businessmen that I was trying to split the PDP and by being close to the Chief Ministert,Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad.”He explained that “I had no such intention and as Deputy Chief Minister I was supposed to maintain close links with the Chief Minister.” He said “ this happened due to lack of communication between MuftiSahib and me.” In reply to another question he said “ since I had no idea of the conspiracy being hatched against me I did not have any reason to meet Mufti Mohd.Sayeed.If Mufti Sahib had any misunderstanding or grievance against me he should have spoken to me to clear the misunderstanding.” Instead,he added, the Mufti “told me I should have gone to him to clear the misunderstanding. ”He said “what had pained me that the PDP leadership had been misinformed that I was trying to split the PDP and join the coalition Government with the support of the National Conference.” When asked why did he not resign immediately when the PDP leadership decided to recall him from the council of minister,Mr Baig said “one resigns either when one is disgraced or there is ideological differences with the party leadership. It was a temporarily a setback for me but we were able to repair our relationship.” He said “we are now trying to sort out all these issues.” He said, in reply to yet another question,”possibilities of a midterm poll in the state are remote.Yes,midterm election can become a possibility if the Hurriyat leaders agreed to participate in the poll.”He said that in a coalition Government “ups and downs are there which are simply occupational hiccups and these will vanish the moment the Assembly poll draws near. |
