NC unnerved by PDP leadership's resolved on return of KPs…? | NC, not PDP bracketed itself with BJP for 'power' | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 23: It has almost become a routine for ruling NC to criticize and castigate its rival PDP soon after the latter comes with some meaningful statement that hits like a political nail over any issue where the NC has stumbled badly. The irony is that instead of countering PDP leadership on the basis of some reason or rhyme, the spokespersons of the NC, duty bound on the job assigned to them, come out with irrational attack, which is seen more as hitting out just for the sake of opposition. Call it increasing intolerance or immaturity, the spokespersons of the NC have attacked PDP this time for the assertion of PDP Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on what he reiterated as his resolve to ensure dignified and honourable return of the Kashmiri Pandits back to Valley. There is absolutely no point seen in NC's criticism over what Mufti Sayeed and his party leaders maintained in the function they addressed on Sunday which was exclusively organized for touching upon the community issues. NC apparently must have got unnerved over the immense response PDP leadership received in the political function where Mufti not only talked about return and other issues of the community but more importantly talked about, rather eulogized the entire community and its significance in terms of the role it can perform in the ongoing process of transformation which the State is witnessing. By saying this Mufti apparently bestowed some honour to the community which has been pushed to the wall in terms of accommodating their political aspirations and their status and identity as a whole in the J&K. For reasons clear, this has not been digested well by the NC which has perpetually pushed this community to the brink where it is gradually losing its identity and importance as subjects of the State. PDP leaders have truly contested PDP patron's point by raising a valid question that the community suffered over 20 years back and exodus happened at a time when Mufti Sayeed was the Home Minister of the country. But NC is forgetting it conveniently that the security and protection of its subjects is the prime responsibility of the State Government which at that time miserably failed to protect the lives and property of the minority community. How can NC leadership ignore the fact when militancy started NC leadership and the then Chief Minister surrendered himself to the situation and without caring for his responsibilities left the State and country. From a common man in the KP community to a plethora of organizations that have mushroomed post migration in the KP community, if at all they have some common line of thinking and belief is the fact that NC and the then Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah is primarily responsible for the exodus of KPs from the Valley. Even in the present coalition when NC is sharing power with Congress, the KP leader of Congress party, Ashok Bhan said it boldly that Farooq Abdullah was responsible for exodus and present plight of the community. As for the second issue of targeting PDP for sort of bracketing it with PDP with BJP, NC leaders must give a deep thought and recall that it was none other than this party and its high command which hobnobbed not only with the then NDA Government for the sake of power but also agreed to shared arrangement with BJP at the State level in running the previous Municipal Corporation when they mutually helped to share power of Mayor and Deputy Mayor. |
