Intervening during the reply given by Tourism Minister Mr. Mohammad Dilawar Mir while winding up discussion on grants of the department under his ministry, Mr. Azad said with the coming up of international airport at Srinagar and railway network in Kashmir valley and on account of huge tourist inflow the existing site for building up modern tourist reception centre with all facilities is not possible. Dispelling apprehensions raised by Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar on account of the leasing out the existing site to some private party, Chief Minister said that there is not such proposal with the department and the area would be developed in the best interest of the citizens of Srinagar city. He said the area where the reception centre existed is highly congested and there is huge flow of traffic creating jams and inconvenience to the commuters, as such, it will not be a visionary decision to construct tourist reception centre there on insufficient area and put the people to inconvenience. Chief Minister responding to another point with regard to the augmentation of drinking water supply in Srinagar city, said that Rangil project under execution at present in likely to be completed by the end of December this year. He said about 15-km long pipes have already been laid and work is going on apace. He said the project on its commissioning would benefit additional 2.50 lakh people of Srinagar city.
