"We are a young country. How about a 'youngish' vice president even if we can't have a 'young' president," he wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter. Asked by a follower to define young, Omar said the candidate should be around 50 years old. "Fiftyish. Someone who can be a roving ambassador for the India of today. I didn't have names in mind, just an idea thats it," he replied. When another follower suggested the name of former Union minister Tharoor, Omar said "very good choice". However, the chief minister rued that the presidential race has been "muddied" as BJP threw its weight behind the choice of Samajwadi party candidate for the president. |
