UKF discusses vandalism of valley temples | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Apr 23: the executive members of United Kashmiriyat Forum (UKF), held a meeting at Sheri Kashmir Park Srinagar under its chairman Bharat Raina and other Kashmiri Pandit personalities to discuss the issues of temples of the valley and illegal encroachment of temple lands. Taking a serious view with regard to deteriorating condition of the temples of the valley, members observed that as per the survey done by forum 176 temples are in shambles since last 20 years, these temples are historical and monumental like other shrines in the Kashmir valley. The members in the meeting regretted that beautiful and revered Raghunath Temple of valley has now turned in to garbage dumping site like other Hindu shrines. They said that the Forum already has submitted a memorandum along with details and CD to N N Vohra Governor of J&K, in the year 2008 who assured us action on the matter but the action is still awaited. The chief spokesman of the forum Vir Ji bhat requested the Chief Minister for his personal intervention in the matter. The other persons who spoke on the occasion include, M.L Pandita, Sanjay Sahib, Anil Mattoo, Vijay Sharma, Chiranjeev,Arun raina, Kamal Raina Bal krishan, Fayaz Ahmed, Junaid Ali,Nadeem Ahmed,Ali Mohmad and others.
