Hajj aspirants blame Govt for creating 'confusion' in providing information | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Apr 24: With just one day left for the filing of application forms for Hajj-2012, hundreds of aspirants alleged that they are still clueless about their passports and verification of antecedents, which may deprive them from applying for the holly pilgrimage at least this year."Keeping the conditions of prior passport is a callous decision which should have been taken up with the Union Government." Mohammad Khallel an aspirant told, claiming that there were hundreds of aspirants who had not received their passports as yet even when the last date was due on Wednesday. Meanwhile CPI (M) State secretary Mohammad Yousf Tarigami while expressing his displeasure over what he called the govt's unwillingness to sort out the difficulties of aspirants told that they (aspirants) were being subjected to mental torture. "Everything is confusing, Government is not coming out clean with its plans," Tarigami said. He added that nobody knows what to do with passports and how to pursue its verification when the last date was already drawing to its end. Tarigami demanded that Govt. should make its decision about the quota and other things relating to Hajj-2012 public without wasting any more time. The state Hajj authority, however has brushed aside any complaints of inconvenience to the aspirants and has claimed that every thing was going smoothly. "We have received 19,000 forms along with the one year or permanent validity passports so far with still one full day left, and the process of scrutiny will be done after we finish receiving the forms on Wednesday," Executive Officer for Hajj, Abdul Salam told further, adding that the lucky draws for the selection of aspirants will open after May 10. "We have been given 6,000 quota but it is likely to get increased." Added tha Hajj Officer. Meanwhile Regional Passport Officer Firdous Ahmad had told few days back that there will be no delay in issuing passports to the Hajj aspirants from his office. He added that there were some cases pending for some time and the aspirants had been asked to submit affidavits so that their passports could be processed. |
