Horticulture programmes in Ladakh

Minister for Horticulture Mr. Mir in reply to another question by Mr. S.W. Narboo told LA that ban on export of fresh fruit including apricot is because the fresh fruit produced in Leh and Kargil possesses a particular disease and its export outside the area would endanger spread of this disease in other parts of the state. He said Horticulture development in Ladakh is progressing continuously in terms of expansion of area under fruit and production. Government will take immediate steps to fill up the vacancies in the Horticulture department in Ladakh. The technical cadre, both gazetted and non-gazetted require academic qualification and experience in case of promotion quota, he added.
