Custodial killing: Govt directed to probe
1/28/2007 12:09:07 AM
Jammu | Jan 27
Speaker Legislative Assembly Tara Chand asked the government to inquire into the alleged kidnapping and killing of a youth after the opposition members raised the issue soon after the House met for today’s proceedings.
The issue was raised by opposition National Conference Member Ali Mohammad Sagar, who alleged that the body of a young labourer working with Flood and Control Department of his constituency was found in Pattan. He said the youth was picked up from his place of work by the security forces two days back.
Expressing his concern over the killing, he said despite repeated strictures from Chief Minister against such killings the youth was killed when the whole nation was celebrating Republic Day.
Taking a serious note, Speaker asked the Government to inquire into the matter and submit the report in the House during the ongoing session.
