MLAs complain of rough deal on RD celebrations
Attitude of some officers has become intolerable: Mangat

Minister for health and medical education Mangat Ram Sharma today said that the attitude of some officers in the administration has become ‘intolerable’. He made the observations after members from either side complained that they were put to certain restrictions at the main Republic day celebration venue at Maulana Azad Stadium, yesterday.
Reacting to the issue raised by Congress Legislature Yogesh Sawhney in Legislative Assembly, Sharma said that the matter would be taken up with the Chief Minister for initiating action against those found responsible.
He said that the coalition is keen to see that the elected members get respect and regard due to them. He said that recently government after a cabinet decision has categorically authorized the Legislators to have beacon lights on their cars. “We have even issued a list of such members who could use such lights”, he added.
Yogesh Swaney complained that the vehicles of the MLA were not allowed inside the stadium by the security officials on the pretext of security concern while there was no such restriction for the officers. "Moreover, MLAs were seated in the third row behind the officers, which itself speaks volume about the treatment being meted out with the legislatures”.
Other members both from opposition and treasure benches including Harshdev, Sartaj Madni, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Ashwani Kumar and Usman Majid also supported him and complained that many of the MLAs were even not given invitation card.
Ali Mohammad Sagar while thanking Mangat for taking serious note of the matter, however said that the MLAs have been listed below Dy.SP’s in the list of the persons authorized to have beacon Lights.
Expressing his concern on the matter, Harshdev complained that the MLAs are always ignored in every government function. He draw the attention of the House that there is a a government order according to which MLA has been put above the State Chief Secretary in the protocol.
