| How long would Kamaal continue to embarrass NC? | | | Early Times Report
srinagar, April 24: Dr. Mustafa Kamaal has taken on Delhi, Congress and State's accession to the country single-handedly.
Kamaal has challenged J&K Congress president, Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz to prove his support. Soz had recently said the real empowerment of the elected Sarpanches and Panches cannot happen unless the Constitutional amendments 73rd and 74th are extended to the State of Jammu and Kashmir through their adoption by the State legislature.
Kamaal has been re-appointed as the additional general secretary of the ruling NC after he had been divested of the party charge early this year when he criticized the Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi.
He has now challenged the Indira-Abdullah accord of 1975 which brought his father late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah back to power in the State from his long wilderness of over 13 years.
Kamaal has been in the thick of many political controversies in the past as well for his controversial comments which have often proved to be more embarrassing for the NC than any other party.
The NC has designated a full time spokesman of the party who held a detailed interaction with the media persons here some days back. The new NC spokesman, Tanvir Sadiq has requested the media not to take any official party quotes from somebody other than the party spokesman pertaining to the party. But, this would not in any way stop a senior leader like Dr. Mustafa Kamaal from issuing statements those would continue to catch headlines for their controversial content.
Kamaal has been wearing his loyalty to the party and the State Chief Minister which he often reiterates during the same statements those finally come as big surprises for both his elder brother Dr. Farooq Abdullah and nephew, Omar Abdullah.
The NC has been facing problems with Dr. Mustafa Kamaal and yet because he belongs to the family he manages to surface up from wilderness after a while. Many political observers believe Kamaal is yet to 'forgive' the NC top leadership for ignoring his claim to the Ministerial berth when the present NC-Congress coalition came to power in 2008.
"He will continue to embarrass the party whatever position he is given in the party officialdom unless his desire is fulfilled," said a political observer here. The question that remains to be seriously answered by Dr. Kamaal is what really is his desire? Does he want to continue embarrassing the NC top leadership unless he is somehow accommodated in the State Cabinet? |
