Omar ends up criticizing PDP in Rajouri | | | Early Times Report rajouri, Apr 24: The Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today played a typical Kashmiri woman who goes to her roof top over trifles to curse her neighbour. Omar addressed several rallies at Rajouri today. All the rallies were well attended. The people perhaps expected a political message from the Chief Minister. However, he ended up criticizing the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He accused the PDP of taking credit for opening of the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road. The road, Omar said, was opened in pursuance of an agreement between India and Pakistan. "Rest assured about a three-tier powerful Panchayat system functioning and flourishing in the State", he conveyed to the PDP and accused the party of degrading the urban local body institutions to zero degree. Omar said services of 14 Government departments had already been conferred to the Panchayats and a financial support of Rs 40 Crores had been released. Had the PDP conducted Panchayat elections they would have unleashed propaganda and self praising campaign for 100 years. Interestingly the NC has also been boasting of holding the Panchayat elections. In fact it has been projected as one of the biggest achievements of the coalition Government. Omar also attacked the PDP for its `wrong' policies. However, Omar did not mention which policies of the party had strained his nerves. Pertinent to mention, PDP has been demanding probe into various scams including Haji Yusuf killing case and the JKCA multi-crore scam. During his tirade against the PDP, Omar talked about its healing touch policy. "They did nothing on the ground", he said. However, political watchers contest Omar's statement. The draconian POTA was suspended by the PDP. It also suspended the Special Operations Group (SOG). POTA was extended to the State by NC. Similarly SOG was also formed by the NC. Omar boasted of unemployment allowance. The unemployed youth however, perceive the allowance as dole. "The NC Government has hot hard at our integrity and honour by treating us like beggars", they have been saying. On corruption, the Chief Minister said that they (PDP) only raised the slogans and did nothing practical on ground. "Instead we brought in powerful Accountability Commission, Right to Information Commission and Public Service Guarantee Act to bring in transparency and check the malpractices and corruptions at various levels", he said and also mentioned the third party monitoring and e-tendering launching by his Government first time in the State to address the burning issue of corruption. Nobody can contest these claims. But what happened to the killers of Haji Yusuf? Who is involved in JKCA scam? When Omar talks of rights under the Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA), he is not doing any favour to the people. It is the responsibility of the Government to provide services to the people. |
