Kishtwar, Apr 24: The Additional Superintendent of Police has assured stern action against the culprits who pushed a minor from Padyarnaa, Kishtwar into flesh trade.
In an exclusive interview with "Early Times" ASP Kishtwar, Kulbeer Singh said that police have recorded the statement of the minor girl under 164 CrPc before Chief Judicial Magistrate. The victim, according to him, narrated her woeful tale.
She said she was first taken to Jammu and allegedly pushed into flesh trade by Santosha Devi and her sister Saroja Devi. He said that police were examining the statement of the victim girl.
The ASP, said that last year in the month of March Kishtwar police received a complaint of abduction of the victim and subsequently a case under Section 363 RPC was registered. He said that similar case was also registered at Jammu, where the girl after escaping from the custody of the accused lodged a complaint.
He said that it was in connection of the case registered at Kishtwar that the police recorded the statement of victim. The victim, he said, has revealed names of few accused including Kingpin Santosha Devi and Saroja Devi. He said that police are verifying the name of the other accused and assured that stern action will be taken against the culprits without taking their profile into account.
"The case is still at initial stage--- police is accessing the progress of the case and the culprits will be arrested soon", Singh said.
He said that among the two kingpin ladies, one Saroja Devi has already been arrested and efforts are on to arrest the other accused.
Singh , however, did not disclose the names of high profile persons. He also did not comment on fake Date of Birth certificate by Lambardar and Chowkidar which helped the accused in getting bail.
Singh said that he is not in a position to comment on investigation conducted by Jammu police. "I will examine the actual date of birth of the victim and anybody found guilty of tampering the DOB record, will be punished", he said.
"She was living with her cousin after the death of her parents-the kingpin Santosha Devi and Saroja Devi took advantage of her despondency and shifted her to Jammu after kidnapping her", Kulbir said.
He said that as per the physical appearance of the victim, she is not more than 16 at present.
Meanwhile, Kishtwar police allowed few of the family members of the victim to meet her in presence of senior police officer inside police station Kishtwar. The police reportedly allowed the maternal uncle of the victim to meet her. This is the first time since 2-3-2011 when the abduction report regarding the victim was lodged at Police Post Padyarna that any of the family member was able to meet the victim. The girl was later shifted to Jammu.
