Governor for expeditious completion of Medical College | | | Jammu, Apr 25 : Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today stressed on the "expeditious" completion of upcoming Medical College in Reasi district to provide health services to people in nearby areas, and also to the pilgrims visiting Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. "There is need to take immediate steps to ensure the expeditious completion of the upcoming Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence to provide quality medical services to general public of the surrounding areas, and in the course of time to the ever increasing number of Yatris to Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine which crossed the one crore mark last year," Vohra said at a meeting with officers at Raj Bhavan here. The Governor, who is also the chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), issued directions for taking necessary steps for establishing a medical college, a nursing college and a world class blood bank. He also directed immediate commencing of the construction of residential accommodation for doctors, para-medics and other staff of SMVDIME, and said that for this purpose, Master Plan will be finalised on priority basis. Reviewing the security aspects, the Governor directed that the baggage X-ray machines and the CCTV cameras must remain functional, and all the required measures must be enforced for effectively ensuring against stampede or any other avoidable hazard. |
