Government suffering from Zahini Diwalia: Rather
Biag steals show as govt faces embracement
1/28/2007 12:12:08 AM
Jammu | Jan 27
Government today faced great embarrassment after opposition members criticized it for the failure of Finance minister to reply the objections raised by Harshdev Singh on the elections for two seats of MLC’s through local bodies and seeking the help of former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Biag’s to clarify government’s position on the matter.
It is pertinent to mention here that Harshdev while taking part in the grants on the other day for the department had termed the elections as unlawful.
The opposition created uproar when Muzaffar Biag who was seen in the House, second time today during the ongoing budget session, sought the leave of the Speaker to speak on the matter.
However, Sharief-din-Shariq objected soon after Baig stood on his seat. How could he say any thing on a matter which was under rules to be replied by the Finance Minister, he said adding, “I have no objection on Baig’s speech as a member but he can not speak on the issue the reply of which should have come from the Government”.
Supporting their party collogues, other members of NC also objected to the statement by Muzaffar Biag accusing the government not to have a person of caliber who could clarify the questions raised by Harshdev.
The opposition leader A R Rather went to the extent of saying that the coalition is faced with Zahini Diwalia (short of able minds).
The members however, were pacified on the intervention of Chief Minister who requested to the chair to hold a half hour discussion on the issue.
