| Postal Circle registers 22 per cent growth:Samuel | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 25: Jammu and Kashmir Postal Circle has registered a growth of 22.5 per cent during the last financial year, a senior postal department official said here today. Post Master General of Jammu and Kashmir Circle John Samuel said more than 1,700 post offices are functioning in the state. "Jammu and Kashmir Postal Circle has registered a growth of 22.5 per cent during the last year," Samuel told reporters on the sidelines of inauguration a modern post office in Civil Secretariat premises by Chief Secretary Madav Lal here today. Twenty Four post offices have been identified for modernisation during the current year, and of these, 12 are in Srinagar and equal number in Jammu, he said. A similar computerised Modern Post Office will be opened in the Civil Secretariat Srinagar in next month and Lal Chowk post office is being converted into tourist post office with post shop facilities, he said. "Technological growth has put greater challenge for postal service," Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal said. |
