CM undermining authority of MLAs: Dy. Speaker | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 25: Accusing ruling NC and Chief Minster Omar Abdullah of putting the honor and authority of Legislative members to disrepute, Deputy Speaker and MLA Devsar Sartaj Madni has alleged that Chief Minster's chair was being misused to gain political mileage and benefit the National Conference workers. "More than Rs. 50 Lakh have been spent on CM's directions in my constituency without consulting me and that too through little known persons to give them monetary benefit." Madni said. He added that during the board meeting which was chaired by the Chief Minster Omar Abdullah, he had asked for additional Rs. 10 lakh for water supply scheme from Qazigund to Kund, which he claimed Chief Minster out rightly refused. "If I as MLA of the area could not get 10 lakh for my people, wherefrom Omar could manage 50 lakh in the same constituency and that too without taking me on board," asked Madni while adding that it was a 'conspiracy' to encroach into the powers and authority of MLA's. Deputy Speaker while expressing his displeasure over the move said that Omar's chair was being misused and institution of Chief Minster was being compromised and at the same time efforts were being made by the ruling party to undermine the authority of the legislature. "More than 50 lakh rupees have been drawn vide Dy. Commissioner Anantnag's letter no's. DDC/A/Power/ 2455-59 dtd. 17-3-2012 and DDCK/2011-2012/7404/08/ 28-3-2012 for creations of 100 KVA substations at New Colony Qazigund, Wgay Mohallah Qazigund, Budrgund Mohallah Kulg-am and installation of high mast lights in Qazigund Town on Chief Minster's direct intervention," claimed Madni. He accused Chief Minster and his associates of indulging in encroachment of power jurisdiction of MLA's and allegd that this all was done to benefit National Conference workers and undermine his (Madni's) position as MLA. |
