| NC statement on youth empowerment evokes ridicule | | | early times report
Srinagar, Apr 25: The National Conference spoke-sman cracked a crude joke today. He said the youth were party's life line. The statement was taken with a pinch of salt in the Valley for obvious reasons.
The general public and the political parties accuse the National Conference of killing 120 youths during the 2010 agitation. "The NC led government jailed thousands of youth to safeguard its petty interests", political circles said. The ‘crudest’ part of the joke lies in the part of his statement where he appeals the youth to join National Conference. The spokesman perhaps is not aware of the ground realities. He perhaps has not heard the slogans that have been chanted in Kashmir in recent past. National ka jo yaar hai, who quom ka gadaar hai. (NC friends are national traitors). This is what the youth particularly in Kashmir feel about National Conference. The spokesman also spoke about NC leadership's role about empowerment of youth. However, the quantum of empowerment guaranteed by the SKEWPY , according to economic experts has hit hard at honour and integrity of the youth. |
