Nationalists struggling, ultras enjoying hospitality of government | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 25: The state and centre governments are adopting different yards sticks to deal with gun wielded ultras and nationalist and it is evident from the amnesty and rehabilitation schemes doled to militants at one hand and on the other the nationalist who have sacrificed their youth for the nation are on receiving end. Undoubtedly India is a great secular nation having sympathy and justice for everyone even to those went to extreme against the national security be it Ajmal Kasab the convict of 26/11 or be it Thanu an accused in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case or Afzal Guru a convict of Parliament Attack and amnesty to surrendered terrorist but ironically the same great nation is shrugging its shoulder to take responsibility of nationalists who dedicated their life for the service of nation. While the Rs 16 Crore has been shelled out reportedly for protecting the country's most high-profile prisoner Ajmal Kasab Maharashtra government till Nov 2011, on the other hand Vinod Sawhney have to sit on fast upto death for the getting his demand of rehabilitation. Pertinent to mention here that Vinod Sawhney, a wearing chains sat on fast upto death outside the Press Club Jammu in support of his demand of rehabilitation. Mr Sawhney an Indian spy has spent eleven years of life in the Pakistani imprisonment from 1977 to 1988 after being arrested by the Pakistan security agencies. Narrating his miseries, Sawhney said, "After his repatriation from Pakistan in 1988 the authorities be it state or the central have infact completely disowned him and did nothing for his rehabilitation expect doling out assurances like come 'tomorrow or the other day." Recalling horrid memories from his past he evoked that he was arrested by the Pakistani army at the age of 23 and during imprisonment in Pakistan he was shifted to number of jails of Pakistan including Sialkot Interrogation Centre, District Jail Sialkot, Central Jail Multan, Shahiwal Kalapani, Central Jail Kot Lakhpat, and Central Jail Lahore and many other. He was not invited there to see good hospitality of Pakistan government but was subjected to physical and mental torture. "I faced all this as a part of my duty towards nation but when I came back the same nation responded atypically and adopted Nelson's Eye approach to my miseries, he lamented. 'Time and again I used to read news items appearing in news papers that government is offering amnesty and rehabilitation to militants who once had picked up gun against the integrity of nation but my voice for rehabilitation lost in wilderness forcing me to go for hunger strike, he added Sharing his tale of woes the nationalist holding tricolour lamented that presently he is living completely on the mercy of his family members and his good old friends who are catering his day to needs alongwith his family Taking strong exception of rehabilitation scheme of ultras, he rued on one hand government is framing policies for the rehabilitation of the surrendered militants and on the other hand nationalist including him who have patiently rendered their prime youth to nation's integration are being ignored. |
