| Guv’s address: Tarigami refused permission to comment | | | Jammu | Jan 27
Deputy Speaker Mohd Akbar Lone today refused to permit CPI(M) leader Mohd Yousuf Tarigami from making comments on the Governor’s Address delivered during the Republic Day Parade on January 26.
When Tarigami rose to raise the issues related to Governor’s speech, National Conference MLA Sharifudin Shariq also said that he too wanted to make certain comments in this regard.
Prior to this ruling of the Chair, Tarigami demanded to know as to whether the Governor had been authorized to make important statements on behalf of the union government on the all important peace process.
However, senior National Conference leader Abdul Rahim Rather intervened at this moment, saying that it would not be appropriate to discuss the Governor’s address in the House. Thereafter, the deputy speaker asked the members to leave the matter and continue the discussion on grants.
