| Floral Tributes paid to Late Maharaja Hari Singh on 51st Death Anniversary | | | early times report JAMMU, Apr 26 : Various political and non political organizations including Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha observed 51tst death anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh at recently unveiled Statue of the last emperor of the state in an impressive memorial occasion organized here toady. Large number of people participated in the function and paid tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh. Speakers highlighted the reforms introduced by the late Maharaja such as prohibition of smoking among children, prohibition of polygamy, opening doors of temples for Harijans, promoting widow marriage, infanticide among rajputs, discrimination against women, reforms in all communities, respect for all religions, besides signing of historical Instrument of Accession with India. Speaking on the occasion, Narayan Singh, president, Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha, highlighted the achievements during the tenure of Maharaja Hari Singh and stressed upon the gathering to follow the footsteps of Maharaja to pave the way of development of the State.In a similar memorial occasion to pay tributes to late Maharaja, the National Panthers Party (NPP) paid tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh on his 51st death anniversary who died 51 years ago in Bombay while in exile at the age of 66. The Panthers Party leaders described Maharaja Hari Singh as a great democrat, philanthropist, moralist, human and preliterate Maharaja who established High Court in 1928 for the enforcement of civil rights, introduced elected Parliament, opened all public places including the temples for everybody including the depressed classes, made primary education as compulsory, banned child marriage. Party spokesperson said that Panthers Party shall pay mass homage to the Maharaja in a public rally in Jammu on his 51st death anniversary on 6th May. People's Democratic Party (PDP) today organized a function observe 51st death Anniversary of late Maharaja. Led Vikram Singh (Distt Vice President Jammu Urban), Chaman Angral, Vinod, Pankaj Gupta, Girish Sharma, Sachin Sharma, Sonu Saini. PDP activists assembled at Dogra Chowk in front the newly installed statue of Maharaja Hari Singh and paying floral tributes described the late Maharaja as a true patriot with secular vision who brought many social reforms and always worked for the upliftment of the masses. PD leaders urged the young generation to refrain from smoking and live simple living as perceived by late Maharaja. |
