Polytechnic students protest against alleged "harassment" by teacher | | | early times report
JAMMU, Apr 26: Protesting alleged harassment by automobile department's head H N Bhat, students of government polytechnic college, Bikram Chowk, today boycotted their classes and held a strong demonstration. The students gathered at the main entrance of the college in the morning and held a demonstration amidst raising of slogans against Bhat and others. They alleged that Bhat was in the habit of showering abuses on them during routine practical work in the campus. They alleged that since they had not been given petrol and diesel during practical classes, they had failed to understand where these items were consumed. "Distribution of sessional marks is not proportionate to the efficiency of students. Arbitration is used while alloting sessional marks," the protesters alleged. They alleged some teachers were also in the habit of demanding liquor and money for meat from them during exams. While they were protesting, college principal H N Malik and secretary of the technical education board visited them and assured action against anybody who was found guilty.After protesting for two hours, the students dispersed peacefully. |
