Sadhotra victim of his own party?
4/27/2012 12:36:45 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 26: Ajay Sadhotra, the two time MLA from Marh constituency, is not only being completely sidelined by the party but is not getting the political support he deserves. Sadhotra, who had at one time emerged as the political face of NC in the Jammu district, because of his connections and dealings, has even been removed from the post of provincial president of the party, reflecting the approach and management of the party.
Sadhotra had successfully contested from this constituency in 1996 and 2002. He had nurtured this constituency, a rear feat for NC politician in Jammu district, and was also made Minister in previous Government of Dr Farooq Abdullah.
Marh constituency has a history of not being a cradle of single party. It has thrown up candidates from all parties including NC, Cong, BJP and even Janta Party at the height of anti-Congress movement.
The NC doesn't have a credible face and Minister from the Jammu district. The point becomes more important when PDP had stepped up the steam in the district off late for different important political reasons.
The presence in the Jammu district, which like its counterpart in Srinagar, sends important political signal and making inroads here by building public perception is a political move which no party can ignore as this district, which houses summer Capital, has the potential and means to build political perception in this region of 10-district.
The Congress, the coalition partner in the Government, has started making inroads in this constituency and even PCC president accompanied by Revenue Minister and also Health Minister held a rally in support of nominated MLA Indu Pawar, in the hope of regaining this seat from the BJP.
Interestingly, the BJP candidate has been getting support from the Government on the issues raised by him in the Assembly.
This Government support to the candidate of the party, considered bete-noire by NC, could hurt the political interest of Sadhotra, who had worked hard to nurture and bring this constituency on the mainstream political landscape.
A close confidents of CM, considered to be his man-Friday, though apparently enjoys good working or political relation with Sadhotra, had not deemed it fit to hold a rally in this constituency while he is busy in another constituency in the same district, just few kilometers from here.
The CM had made repeated visits to the constituency which had not been won by this man-Friday but has completely skipped the Marh constituency, which was represented two times by a person, considered close to his father and who made him a Minister, apparently with political consideration.
