| Institute of Mountain Environment celebrates Earth Day | | | Early Times Report
Bhaderwah, Apr 27: The Institute of Mountain Environment (IME) organized a one day workshop "Earth Won't Wait Long" to celebrate the World Earth Day 2012. in the onset of workshop theme was introduced by Dr Neeraj Sharma, Assistant Professor and convener of the workshop, IME. He presented a summary of the foundation of Bhade rwah Campus of Jammu University and highlighted the objectives of the Institute of Mountain Environment (IME). Senior Professor V S Manhas, HOD, Department of Geography, Jammu University was the chief guest of the function P K Pole , District Development Commissioner, Udhampur was the special guest for the occasion while Manzoor Hussain District Forest Officer, Bhaderwah was guest of honor. Earlier Jitender Manhas, Inc harge Adm inistration welcomed the distinguished guests.
A large number of students and the civil society of Bhaderwah participated in the interactive session. Dr Suresh Babu, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, University of Jammu, Chhering Tandup, IME, BC made a presentation on Impact of Climate Change on Public Health. Rakesh Kumar Atri, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Sciences, Inde rjeet Singh also spoke on details in the current scenario of the relationship between climatic change and apple cultivation in Himachal Pradesh. The speakers from the Bhaderwah Campus included Sunil Bhardwaj who has presented the paper on the topic "carbon credits, a mantra for green economy" Abhishek Sharma (carbon sequestration) and Rajbeer Kaur (Green marketing). Professor M A Malik, Rector Bhaderwah Campus, Dr Neeraj Sharma was the convenor of the workshop and Chhering Tandup was the organizing secretory. |
