Early Times Report

JAMMU, Apr 27: To make inroads in all the three regions of the State, the Opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has launched a state wide campaign by taking people from all shades of opinion along it. The Party which has already gained its foothold in Kashmir valley is also concentrating on Jammu and Ladakh regions by wooing the people of these two regions to increase its support base emerge as a political force to reckon with in these two regions also.
Eyeing the 2014 Assembly elections and coming Municipal Corporation and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) elections in the state, the PDP leadership does not shy away in raking up the emotive issues concerning the people of Jammu and Ladakh regions too to take the people of all three regions along with it.
This is the reason that former Chief Minister and patron of the party Mufti Mohammed Sayed has chosen to laud the role of Late Maharaja Hari Singh who was the last Dogra ruler of the state. Unlike NC leaders including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who avoided to participate a function on birth anniversary of Late Maharaja Hari Singh here when his statue was unveiled by Union Minister of health and Family Welfare, Mufti showered praises last Dogra ruler of the state and described him a great visionary who during his rule had taken many steps for the welfare and betterment of the people of the state. He said the state Subject and duel citizenship laws are creation of Maharaja as he did not like the land of J&K be encroached by outsiders.
Judging the mood of the people in Jammu where the people take Late Maharaja in high esteem and have a lot of regard for him, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed chose every opportunity to play his role in public meetings to garner the support of Jammuites.
Not only this taking a lead even to Congress and BJP the PDP activists observed both death and birth anniversary of Maharaja in Jammu and paid glowing tributes to him by recalling his contributions for the welfare of the state as PDP leadership is confident that pro-Maharja statement will take the Party more closer to people in Jammu while the Party is already having an edge over NC and Congress in Kashmir.
The PDP organized a function to observe the 51th death anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh at Tawi bridge where the statue of last Dogra ruler was unveiled recently. The PDP activists garlanded the statue and paid floral tributes to Maharaja to show total solidarity with Dogras of Jammu as well which the NC, Congress as well as BJP failed to do.
The political analysts in the state term it a great development for the Party saying that the Party which is trying to identify itself with the peoples issues and problems will definitely take a lead over its rivals in the state.
