| Sushil Kumar qualifies for London Olympics | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 28: Free Style Wrestler Sushil Kumar, 66 Kg has qualified for the 2012 London Olympic Games by winning gold medal in 1st 2012 World Olympic Games Qualifying Wrestling Tournament being held at Taiyuan in China. This is the 3rd time that Sushil Kumar qualified for the Olympic Games. Sushil Kumar has already participated in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and 2008 Beijing Olympic Games where he had won bronze medal for the country.
Getting bye in the first round, Sushil trounced Mang Radley of Palau by fall, while in quarterfinals he defeated Lawrence Jayden Alexander of Australia by 3-2, 2-0 and qualified for the semifinals. In the semifinals, Sushil Kumar toppled Kvatkovskyy Andriv of Ukraine by 1-0, 2-1 and sealed berth for London Olympics. Meanwhile, in the finals, he drubbed Tushishvili Otar of Georgia by 2-0, 1-0 to clinch gold medal. |
