Friends XI, Christian Federation XI win friendly ties

JAMMU, Apr 28: Christian United Federation conducted friendly cricket matches to provide a platform to upcoming cricketers in U-12 and U-22 year age categories at Alexander Memorial High School, here today. Four teams of Christian Star XI, Friends XI, Christ Followers XI and Christian Federation XI participated in the exhibition matches.
In the first match played in under -12 category, Friends XI defeated Christian Star XI by four wickets. Batting first, Christian Star XI made 48 runs in given 10 overs for the loss of eight wickets.
Jonty was top scorer with 18 runs including two boundaries, while Capras contributed 12 runs.
From Friends XI, Abhi took three wickets while Rahul and Kallis shared two each.
In reply, Friends XI reached the target in eight overs losing six wickets in the process. Captain Rohan Gill scored 16 runs with the help of two boundaries while Aryaman and Abhi contributed 14 and 12 runs respectively.
From Christian Star, Jonty, Nelson and Mohit took two wickets each. Abhi of Friends XI was adjudged as man of the match.
Meanwhile, in the second match of the day Christian Federation XI defeated Christ Followers XI by 14 runs. Batting first, Christian Federation XI set a target of 87 runs in the stipulated 12 overs for the loss of eight wickets. Tiny was the top scorer with 20 runs, while Ravi Manchanda, Rakesh, Sampaul contributed 14, 12, 10 runs respectively. From Christ Followers XI, Rickson claimed three wickets, while Amit , Romerio , Sourav and Tiny shared apiece each.
Later, chasing the target , Christ Followers XI bowled out for 72 runs. Raja remained top scorer with 28 runs , while Sandeep and Danny added 16 and 12 runs respectively. Nitu Khokher was adjudged as the man of the match.
President of the Christian United federation, Nicodemus was the chief guest, who appreciated the cricketing skills of the young boys and advised them to work hard and do practices more to excel at the state and national level. Former Ranji cricketer, Rajesh Gill also spoke on the occasion.
