BJP activists take out protest march, demand action against Geelani
1/28/2007 12:36:43 AM

Jammu | Jan 27
The BJP activists of Jammu district led by its President Kavinder Gupta today took out a protest march from party headquarters and burnt effigies of the Congress-led coalition government, Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and also set on fire copies of Greater Kashmir newspaper at the city chowk here.
Addressing the protestors, Kavinder came down heavily on the Congress led coalition government in the State for adopting soft approach towards separatist leaders like Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who has been repeatedly condemning India by terming it as an oppressive nation. ‘Instead of booking such anti-national elements, the state government was treating them as VIPs and providing fool proof security thus shielding them, he said and ‘impressed upon the government to withdraw security cover to Geelani and book him and others and initiate legal proceedings against them for their anti-national approach’.
The BJP leader also took National Conference to task for demanding arrest of BJP State Chief and keeping mum over what the valley based separatist leaders have been preaching against India for decades. ‘The BJP did not commit any crime in demanding a common flag and common constitution for Jammu and Kashmir’, like other states of the country, he said and added the party has been fighting from the Prajya Parishad days for ‘Ek-Vidhan-Ek-Nishan- Ek- Pradhan’ and have even sacrificed its brave and nationalist leaders like Shyama Prashad Mookerjee’, and maintained the ‘the struggle has not ended yet and would continue till the goal is achieved’.
Kavinder also asked the Editor Daily Greater Kashmir to publicialy apologize for publishing a cartoon that has hit the sentiments of the party activists.
Prominent among those who took part in the protest march included Yudhvir Sethi, Rajesh Gupta, Subash Jandial, Subash Sharma, Raj Rani Jamwal, Karan Singh, Vinay Gupta, Chander Mohan Gupta, Rakesh Gupta, Ramesh Sharma, Pawan Khajuria, Munish Sharma, Pradeep Sharma, Sangeeta Sharma, Sat Pal Choudhary, Maggar Singh and Pushpa Devi.
