NSPU bats for Right to Education Act | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 28: National Panthers Students Union (NPSU) has demanded implementation of 'Right of Children to free and compulsory Education Act'. Addressing a press conference here today, Provincial President of NPSU Partap Singh Jamwal said that there are 14453 primary schools, of which 3200 are without roof and near about 8000 schools are without facility of drinking water and toilets. He said that most of the schools are without infrastructure. He said that an act was passed by Government of India namely "Right of Children to free and compulsory Education" which guarantees reservation of 25 percent seats for poor children in public schools. He said that this Act is yet to be imposed across J&K. Jamwal demanded that the act should be immediately invoked in the state of Jammu and Kashmir besides providing infrastructure to these schools for better education. Others who were present included Mahesh Bakshi, Sunny Sharma, Manmeet Singh, Prikshit Jamwal, Abhishek, Ankush and Salman. |
