YV Sharma re-elected as CCI president, Arun as secy gen

Jammu, Apr 28: YV Sharma has been re-elected as the president of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Jammu while Arun Gupta was declared elected as general secretary of the newly elected body for which elections were held here today.
The result of Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries was announced formally in the premises of JCCI here in late evening by the panel nominated as election commissioner at Office of the CCI Jammu at Bahu Plaza.
According to the officials reports YV Sharma, a local businessman, was declared elected as president. He defeated his nearest rival Rakesh Gupta and secured the 976 while Gupta has to satisfy with only 892 votes.
"Of a total of 1964 votes 1877 votes were polled for various posts, officials added. They added that other office bearers declared elected in today's polling included Shyam Lal Langar as senior vice-president. Langer secured 1038 votes and defeated his closest contender Shyam Swrup Gupta who only got 812 votes.
For the junior vice president Anil Gupta secured 932 votes while his arch contender Sanjay Mahajan only managed to secure 902 votes. For the post of Secretary General Arun Gupta bagged 1043 votes while his rival Munish Gupta secured 812 votes only. Deepak Aggarwal secured 1042 votes for the post of Secretary whereas Bharat Bushan who was declared elected as treasurer got 865 votes while rivals, Rajesh Gupta and Ramesh Jandiyal secured 623 and 318 votes respectively. The elections were held under the panel of election commission comprising Anil Kapahi as Election Commissioner and three other members of the Commission namely Shiv Partap Gupta, Narinder Singh Chehal and Rajan. Pertinent to mention that a long campaign for the CCI polls saw a total thirteen members in the fray for the election to the executive body of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu for which polls were conducted today.
