Complainant held thief, other escapes under police's nose | | | Sumit Sharma Jammu, Apr 28: In an alleged case of police negligence, a thief was caught by complainant himself while his associate escaped under the nose of Parade police. According to sources, the incident took place on the evening of Friday when complainant was chasing the motorcycle stolen from the parking of Kamla Palace on 25 April. The Pulsar motorcycle bearing registration number JK02AH/1892 was stolen few days ago and a complaint was forwarded to the Talab Tillo police station by the complainant namely, Sourabh Mehra son of Surinder Kumar Mehra of Circular Road, but as usually reported the same was not registered by the concerned SHO. Complainant said to his surprise, concerned SHO turned down his request with a plea that there was tight security in the Kamla Palace due to SSP Jammu's visit to the function. As per complaint, after he himself identify his stolen motorcycle driven by two youth whom he overpowered at Parade Ground Jammu area. As the motor cycle lifters tried to escape, he was joined in by two of his friends Honey Gondghi and Abinandan Balgotra. Again to his surprise police arrested the owner and his two associates while giving the vehicle lifters a chance to slip again. Later, during preliminary questioning the police found its fault and tried to rectify it and swung into action and arrested one of the the thieves identified as Ashok Mehra, SRTC employee. Later, in a midnight raids police arrested second absconding thief who has been identified as Arun Mehra of Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu. The investigation of the case has been strted, police said. |
