Home Guards huger strike enters 33rd day

JAMMU | JAN 27
The hunger strike by the members of Home Guards Welfare Association continued for the 33rd consecutive day outside the Divisional Commissioner’s office here today.
The agitating Guards are demanding grant of all incentives as are available to their counterparts in other parts of the country.
Addressing the protestors, Ali Mohammed Bhat President of the Association warned that the huger strike and dharna would continue till the government concedes their demands.
Avtar Singh General Secretary has impressed upon the government to accept their genuine demand at the earliest and maintained the Home Guards are working shoulder to shoulder with regular forces but regretted that they are not being provided the incentives as are available to their counterparts in other states.
In a hand out the Association claimed that condition of some of the hunger strikers has deteriorated and two of them have already been shifted to Hospital.
