Jammu, Apr 29: The ongoing Tagore Theatre Festival being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages came alive with the presentation of Tagore's highly acclaimed play Chitra at Women College Gandihnagar auditorium. The online edition of play in English translated in Hindi and directed by Vikram came out as the strongest and the successful presentation of the festival which was equally applauded by the audience as well as the critics. Rabindernath Tagore's is known for his aesthetic and pantheistic attitude and his spiritually inclined mind. The source for the play Chitra is Mahabharata - an episode from Arjuna's life during his exile. This small episode is made beautiful by Tagore as it has answers to some intriguing aesthetic questions as to what is love and beauty, is beauty ethereal, is love instigated by the beautiful and is love and beauty same words for one feeling. The roles enacted by Neha Lahotra as Chitra and Rohitashiv as Arjun were treat to watch as both gave scintillating performances while living perfectly to the demand of the characters. Himanshu Darshan who conceptualized the love and beauty defined on stage turned out be a great success in producing the aura on stage as make-up, costumes and music too by him enlivened the one hour show to its majestic best. Hardeep Singh and Neeru Bhardwaj who also chipped in with their respective roles gathered applause. Vikram Sharma who directed the play for Shivani Cultural Society took home accolades for directing and justifying Tagore's Chitra in its actual perspective. It is pertinent to mention here that Vikram Sharma over the times have emerged as the strongest entity on theatrical panorama of the state while his variety of directorial ventures have earned him a reputation of conspicuous actor, writer and director of the state whose works are class apart. |
