Denying strongly the rumour that he was planning to leave People’s Democratic party, former Law Minister and senior PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Beig today said that difference with the Muftis had been sorted out.
Baig, however, informed that he was ready with the draft document on self rule proposal and the same shall be tabled soon.
Admitting that he was hurt by the manner in which PDP leadership had recalled him from the cabinet, Baig while talking to reports in the Assembly lobby said “I don’t know the reason why I was asked to leave the cabinet. The party leadership did not even asked me to give an explanation”.
Although suggesting that lack of communication was the reason behind misunderstanding in the party, Baig however alleged that wrong information was fed to Mufti Mohd Sayeed which later led to the political fracas.
“An impression was created by certain sections of political leadership that I had entered into a nexus with Chief Minister Azad and National Conference and wanted to topple PDP”, said Baig, adding that this was totally incorrect.
Responding to the questions on his recall from the state cabinet, he out rightly blamed Mufti Mohd.Sayeed, patron of the PDP, for not having “consulted him” before recalling “ him from the cabinet. He, however, clarified that they were able to repair their relationship in time after a temporary setback.
Elaborating further, he said “I have no misunderstanding with the party Chief, Ms Mehbooba Mufti, but I am shocked over the way Mufti Mohd. Sayeed betrayed the trust he had shown to me. He treated me as his son and still he did not speak to me when he decided to recall me from the cabinet.”
When asked why did he not resign immediately when the PDP leadership decided to recall him from the council of minister,Mr Baig said “one resigns either when one is disgraced or there is ideological differences with the party leadership. It was a temporarily a setback for me but we were able to repair our relationship.”
Interacting with media persons inside the Assembly lobby, Former Deputy Chief Minister, said that he is ready with the draft document on self-rule proposal and the same will be submitted during the next working group meeting on Centre-State relations.
Head of the draft committee set up by the party Patron Mufti Mohd Sayeed,Baig told reporters, “
Yes, we are ready with the draft document on self rule. We will now present it before the working group chairman and discuss it, he added without touching upon the highlights of the draft document. “
