Week-long Parshu Ram Jayanti celebrations concluded at Akhnoor

AKHNOOR, Apr 29 : The week-long celebrations in connection with Bhagwan Parshu Ram Jayanti were concluded here today with the Pooran Ahooti on Havan Mahayagya at the Parshu Ram temple. Thousands of devotees participated in the Havan Pooran Ahooti, which was followed by an impressive Shoba Yatra, taken out in Akhnoor town.
Bhagwan Parshu Ram Jayanti, like other parts of the country was celebrated with gaiety and religious fervor in Akhnoor. The week-long celebrations started from April 24, and during this period the activities of Bhajan-Satsang and Havan Yagya continued and huge congregation of devotees from different parts of Akhnoor tehsil thronged at the famous Parshu Ram temple. Prominent Katha Wachak Shri Suresh Shastri ji delivered the religious discourses and Geeta Path, during all these days. The Parshu Ram Temple Management Committee had made arrangements for the community langer in the temple premises for the devotees. Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture Sham Lal Sharma was chief guest in the concluding function. President Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha, Jammu Pt. Ved Parkash Sharma, President Brahman Sabha, Akhnoor, Mangu Ram Sharma, prominent citizens and large number of devotees were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister asked the people to adopt the teachings of Bhagwan Parshu Ramji in their real life and follow the path of truthfulness, which is the ultimate objective of human life. He said Parshu Ramji spread the message of peace, mutual brotherhood, and selfless service to the mankind and helping the needy and sick. He said many social evils and crimes have over-shadowed the moral ethics in the society and mankind is deprived from the peace and religious path. Need of the hour is to promote moral values amongst the younger generation which has derailed from the rich Indian culture and values, said Sharma. Later, the Minister also attended the grand finale of Chandi Maa Devotional Song competition, held at Mahajan Hall, here. He appreciated the efforts of the organizers for holding such a magnificent and useful event in the city. He said the event will prove launching pad for the budding artists of the State and they will be able to showcase their talent in the singing. He stressed the need for organizing more such events in future to provide plenty of opportunities to the artists to explore their talent. The Minister handed over the prizes to the winners of the finale. Those won the competition included, Sohit Dutt, first position with cash prize of Rs. 51,000, Vijay Kumar, second position with cash prize of Rs. 31,000 and Narotam Dass secured third position and received the cash prize of Rs. 21,000.
