Udhampur, Reasi district Sport Climbing meet held | | | early times report JAMMU, Apr 29: Mountaineering Association of Jammu and Kashmir organised 8th Udhampur District and 5th Reasi District Sport Climbing Championship at Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, Jammu, here today. Bindia Sharma , a Sub Junior national climber won the prestigious girls title in the Udhampur District Sport Climbing Championship. Bindia who entered the girls' category this year only faced a tough competition from Rupali Verma who also topped the 40ft high wall in the final leading to a super final in which Bindia emerged the winner. Vanshika Gomdyan had to be content with a Bronze medal. Similarly, in the sub junior boys and sub junior girls category there was a tough competition among the budding climbers with most of them climbing to the top of the wall in the semi final round. However, in the final round Abhay Singh and Aksha Shah left other climbers behind to clinch the sub junior boys and sub junior girls' titles respectively. Whereas Amandeep Singh and Shubam Khajuria clinched the second and third place in the sub junior boys, the second and third places in the sub junior girls' categories were bagged by Avantika and Monika Sharma. In the Boys category Sumit Singh toppled Bhanu Partap Singh to bag the title. Third place was secured by Anuj Bhardwaj. Results in the men's category were on expected lines with Chetan Sharma, an experienced climber bagging the title in style. The competitions in the women's category were not conducted because of lack of adequate participation quality climbing. In the Reasi District Sport Climbing Championship in which most of the climbers were participating for the first time Sachin Sharma became the new champion in the Boys category whereas Mohd. Sajad Mir and Keofeeka Kafi bagged the sub junior boys and girls titles respectively. The Detailed Results: Boys: Sachin Sharma, Ist ; Asif Bhat, 2nd and Rahil Mir, 3rd. Sub junior boys. Mohd. Sajad Mir, Ist; Mandeep Singh, 2nd and Rakesh Kumar, 3rd. Girls: Keofeeka Kafi, Ist; Sindhiya Sharma, 2nd and Mehnaj Mir, 3rd. In the concluding ceremony Ashwani Sharma, Member Legislative Assembly was the chief guest who along with Sanjit Khajuria, Asssistant Director, Doordarshan Kendra, Jammu, who was the guest of honour, presented medals to the winners. While addressing the gathering Ashwani Sharma lauded the efforts of the Association to promote the game to various parts of the state. He promised all possible help for the conduct of any future championship. Prominent among others present on the occasion included Yogeshwar Kumar, vice president of Mountaineering Association of J&K, Rahul Sharma and Ramesh Khajuria, both Directors of Sprawling Buds School, Vishav Mohan Sharma, Principal of National Academy, Udhampur, Ashwani Katoch,Principal of Amba Kids, Panthal ( Reasi), Navneet Gupta, Secretary of Snow Trail Mountaineers, Jammu , Anil Kumar,Nikhil Kumar, Satish Bhan and Sonam Sidharth. |
