"Dharohar"-2012, artfully portrays 'marriage songs- Suhaag

Jammu, Apr 30: A special programme on "Ghorian" and "Sithnian", the occasional (marriage) songs was organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu in an impressive manner, here at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium. Prof Naresh Padha, Registrar, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest on this occasion while Prof Jasbir Singh, Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee, presided over the function and Prof Neeru Sharma, Co-Chairperson, was the Guest of Honour. Expressing his views on this occasion Prof Padha said that he is extremely delighted to see the young participants in their traditional attires and presenting the melodies folk songs related to the Marriage Ceremony. He further said that the Culture is essence of life and identity of the society.
In his presidential address, Prof Jasbir Singh, eulogized the efforts of the Department of Students Welfare for providing a suitable platform to Showcase our Rich Cultural Heritage.
Prof N.K. Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu, presented the Vote of Thanks. Cosmic College of Education Lakhanpur and Kalra College of Education, Kud, Patnitop shared the First Prize while the team from Govt. Women College, Parade, Jammu and Trikuta College of Education were adjudged Second and Third, respectively. However, the Glittering participation trophy were awarded to all the teams. The young participants from the various Institutions mesmerized the audience with their superb performances. Students from Cosmic College of Education, Rajive Gandhi College of Education, Govt Women College, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, Govt Women College, Parade, Jammu, Sant Mela Singh College of Education, Adarsh College of Education, MIER College of Education, Hill Peoples Colleges of Education and Trainings, Kalra College of Education, Kud, Patnitop, R.S College of Education, Kathua, Vivekananda College of Education, Kalra College of Education, Udham pur, Bharat College of Education and Vimal Muni College of Education and Trikuta College of Education participated in the programme. Among pro minent who were present Dr Samridhi Arora, Dr Aruna Thakur, Dr Savita Nayyar, Dr Seema Sharma, Pooja Langeh, Joint Secretary, Students Cultural Council, Teacher Inch arges, Faculty Members, College Teachers, Research Scholars and Students were also Present. The set was beautifull y designed and executed by Vijay Atri.
