Loyalists vouch to expose dissidents-NC links | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 30: Following reiteration by the party high command that it would not revoke the expulsion of Prof.Chaman Lal Gupta and suspension of six other BJP legislators on charges of cross voting not abiding by the party whip during the Legislative Council elections a year ago, the conflict between the loyalists and the dissidents in the state unit of the BJP is likely to steadfast further. Party sources said that with indirect support from the ruling coalition the BJP dissidents were not willing to give up the fight against the party high command. Even after some dissidents joined the Jammu Kashmir Democratic Front the state unit of the party continues to be troubled by on move after the other by the other by the dissidents. Sources said that the party high command was highly worried over the turn of events in the party in Jammu Kashmir which has witnessed worst ever erosion.They said the party high command was trying to arrange a meeting between the BJP loyalists from Jammu and the speaker of the Sabha in order to secure Meira Kumar 's intervention which was needed to motivate Speaker of Assembly, Mohd.Akbar Lone,to concede the demand of the loyalists for action against the suspended MLAs on the basis of the letter which the new leader of theparty, Jugal Kishore,has sent to Lone. Jugal Kishore Sharma had written a letter to the speaker recommending disqualification of six BJP MLAs from the House after they had been suspended by the party. A senior BJP leader, belonging to the camp of dissidents, said "we will fight to the last because we have been falsely implicated in the cross voting scam." However, loyalists in the BJP say that the dissidents have been fully exposed by the way they have received support from the speaker of the Assembly. They said that the way the Speaker did not take notice of the letter from Jugal Kishore recommending disqualification of six MLAs under anti-defection law indicates that the dissidents have clear support from the ruling coalition. |
