4/30/2012 11:41:03 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 30: The government today set up a Commission to probe allegations of use of force by police on civilians leading to injuries and damage to their properties in Rajouri district on March 15 this year. Additional Commissioner (Jammu) R K Bhagat will probe the allegations of use of force by police, officials said. Bhagat said he would hold a two-day camp at Rajouri from May 3 for recording statements of civilians who wanted to depose before him. Police as a precautionary measure had imposed curfew in the town on March eight after some unidentified persons pelted stones at a religious procession. Later, police detained 17 local residents. On March 15, a group of 300-odd people took out an anti-government procession to protest the arrest of locals. In the ensuing clash between locals and police, seven people were injured.
The locals had alleged brutal use of force by police leading to damage of their properties.
