Failure of secessionist movement in Kashmir perturbs separatist leaders | | | Early Times Report srinagar, Apr 30: The failure of secessionist movement in Kashmir has led to disturbances in secessionist camp and the separatist leaders including hardliners are approaching their sympathizers to bail them out and save the movement by giving it a secular colour. According to sources both hardliner Hurriyat faction led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani and that of moderate led by Moulvi Umar Farooq are totally perturbed as the people in Valley are showing total disillusionment with terrorism and separatism and they want to lead a peaceful and happy life. To give the so called freedom movement a momentum again the Hurriyat leaders are trying hard to win the support of their sympathizers in international organizations to bail out them and save their credibility before the public. The sources said that the leaders of conglomerate are in constant touch with some NGOs engaged in track two diplomacy to solve the Kashmir issue through a middle path by involving the people of conflict zones into dialogue as well as bring India and Paksitan also on a meaningful negotiation table to settle the vexed Kashmir issue. Source said the recent conference held by a NGO at Jammu and Srinagar to resolve the conflict was the part of the same strategy of the track two diplomacy. In these conferences the Muslim as well Hindu intellectuals from Kashmir valley took part and they shared their experiences of 23 year long turmoil and suggested the measures regarding solution of the crisis. Though ideas among the participants varied and difference of opinion was visible but later both reached on the conclusion that they should engage themselves in settling the issue through the mutual understanding. Claiming themselves the members of the Civil society of Kashmir both Muslims as well as exiled Pandits did not show any hesitation in meeting the separatist leaders including the Hurriyat hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani at his residence. According to sources the agenda for meeting the Hurriyat leaders was set by the organizers of the conference who had already set the agenda with the separatist leaders. Sources said as separatists are themselves perturbed they are willing to give a space to the migrant Pandits in Valley as this will give a secular colour to their movement as the separatist leaders who are fast losing the public support in Valley are passing sleepless nights after the so-called movement launched by them in 1989-90 has been rendered a movement of a small section of people. Sources said the visit of Hurriyat hardliner leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani to migrant transit camps in Vessue, Mattan and Sheikhpora last year was also the part of this strategy and interestingly the Hurriyat leader at that time was also associated by a Pandit leader who is associated with a lesser known national political party in Valley to create an impression that Geelani was not only the leader of Muslims but Kashmiri Pandits as well. |
