| Two individuals rule the roost in Administration | | Wake up call for Chancellor as favouritism galore in SMVDU | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 30: In a well knitted conspiracy and nexus, the present set up in the prestigious educational institution of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) was busy benefitting the `blue eyed' individuals by way of accommodating those ineligible and non-deserving to important positions in violation of the laid down norms in both academics and administration thus bringing a bad name to the Chancellor, Governor, NN Vohra, who is known for his integrity and clear image.
With the recent scandalous disclosures by EARLY TIMES in its crusade against the corruption in the State, it has already been exposed that SMVDU has become a place of favouritism and nepotism instead of attaining academic excellence as an institution of learning.
After accommodating some retired individuals to top positions, least bothering about their qualifications in academic hierarchy of School of Architecture and Landscape Design and College of Engineering as also School of Mathematics, the Vice Chancellor, Prof RNK Bamezai in a nexus developed with certain individuals, has started manipulating things in the administrative set up also.
Since adjustment of those close to the Vice Chancellor was impossible without the clearance from the administration, especially the establishment department, Prof Bamezai has started giving back to these individuals so as to compensate them for their `misdeeds'.
While the present Assistant Registrar in the Establishment section, Vivek Verma, who joined SMVDU in 2003 as office secretary and got himself appointed as AR in 2005, is now set to become Deputy Registrar. Giving Vivek third promotion in a short time span of nine years, is a clear indication of VC's give and take policy.
Although, there exists a rotation policy for ensuring transparency and efficiency in the administration, yet the same does not apply to the Establishment wing. Vivek continues to hold the same position of AR for the last seven years.
Generally Establishment section separately has E1 and E2 for teaching and non-teaching employees and the same was in existence in SMVDU till 2009. But, Vivek Verma, through his influence in the administration managed to get merge both E1 and E2 with an aim to take entire control in his hands.
Another close associate of Vivek Verma and a confidante of the VC, Rajesh Sharma is too being benefitted by way of making him AR (Legal) in violation of the employment and UGC rules. Otherwise on deputation from J&K Minerals Limited, Rajesh joined as Section Officer in the Establishment section three years back in 2009.
And, now when his term of deputation is going to expire, the administration wants to retain him so as to continue manipulating the things.
In all well-planned conspiracy, a separate non-existent position of Assistant Registrar (Legal) was created to adopt him on permanent basis. As per the reliable sources, Rajesh Sharma is being finalized out of only two candidates appeared for the interview. By selecting one out of just two, is against the laid down rules. As per the norms, at least three candidates are required for selection to any position. Moreover, other candidate, appeared in the recently held interviews, was the only eligible with Post Graduation in Law (LLM). On the other hand, Rajesh has just done Graduation in law (LLB Professional).
Now, time is ripe for the management of the SMVDU, especially the Chancellor, Governor NN Vohra to initiate an independent inquiry, on the lines of those in University of Jammu and SKUAST, to expose the wrong doings of the present set up thus saving the university from further damage. |
