The 58th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Gandhi Chowk Satwari. Hari Singh, General Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee hoisted the National flag.
While addressing the gathering Thakur Hari Singh recalled the sacrifices of great patriotic leaders and said that the younger generation should learn lesions from the freedom movement and work for the unity and integrity fo the country. The freedom of the country has been achieved after great sacrifices of the ancestors’ ant every citizen irrespective of their caste, creed, religion and region should work for the progress of the country.
Republic Day was also celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor at Delhi Public School, Jammu. Municipal commissioner Vinod Sharma hoisted national flag. Teachers played instrumental music and sung patriotic songs.
A grand republic day celebration function was held at Modern Secular Institute of Education, Mohd. Sharif was the Chief Guest. The function was presided by Ram Rattan Manhas Rtd. ZEO. A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the School children. Prizes were distributed among the meritorious students.
Anmol Public School, Mishriwalla celebrated the Republic day with enthusiasm and great patriotic fervor. Mohd. Sayeed Akhoon, MLC hoisted the national flag. The other dignitaries who were present there were Bhushan Lal Bhat, MLC and School Principal, Roshan Lal Bhat.
58th Republic day was celebrated by Rehari Welfare Committee at S. Balvinder Singh Chowk, B.C. Road, S. Arvinder Singh Mikki, (MLC & Chairman Minority Department) hoisted the National flag. Mayor Manmohan Singh was the guest of honour. Sweets were distributed among the participants including large no. of children and people. SDM of Reasi hoisted the National Flag. A glittering performance by the local children was applauded by all the audience. The highlight was the performance given by children of ‘Ankur’ Children Home Reasi. Ankur contingent march pass the stage with the thundering applause. The contingent was adjusted second amongst the school category.
At Palma childrens’ academy Republic Day was celebrated by the HQ 13 sectors Rifles. Major General AC Soneja General officer commanding hoisted the tri-color. The School children presented a cultural programme with a patriotic theme. Major General AC Soneja presented special to each participant of the cultural programme.
The Congress party celebrated 58th Republic day throughout the state including at all district & Block headquarters. The main function was held at the PCC Headquarter Shahidi Chowk. The DCC president Om Chopra, Ex MLA hoisted the National Flag in the presence of senior leader of PCC, DCC Jammu & Congress Sewa Dal workers. The other who were present there were Pardhuman Singh, Thakur Hari Singh, Ravinder Sharma, Kanta Bhan, Farida Mir, Baldev Sharma, BS Sambyal, KL Gupta, Thakur Raghuvir Singh, Saleem Khan, Kirtan Singh, Kiran Bala, Shanti Vaid, Raj Bakshi, BB Gupta, Jaswant Singh, Mansa Ram, BS Langhey, ZA Bhat & Kailash Ram.
Pardesh Congress Committee Secretary, Santosh Majotra unfurled the National flag at ward no 12 and 13 in Jammu city.
Addressing the gathering, Majotra exhorted the people to get united and work for the development of the country. She said that Congress would work hard to alleviate the suffering of the common people.
Udhampur: The function was held by the Congress party Thikri, Udhampur PCC Vice-President & Former Minister Jashpal Khajuria hoisted the National Flag. Ashok Gupta was the Guest of Honour, the other senior leaders who were present there were Geeta Devi, Shakeel Shah, Surinder Khajuria, Sanjeev Kapoor, Ashok Bakshi, Om Parkash Mangotra, Krishan Chand, Trilok Singh & Shanker Dass.
Rajouri : The Republic day function was held at District HQ Rajouri there, Shabir Ahmed Khan President DCC, hoisted the National Flag. The leaders of the District Congress committee, councellors and Block President attended the function prominent among were Jain Abdul Rashid, Lalit Mahajan, Babu Ram Sharma, Manju Sharma, Mohd. Younis.
Poonch: The Republic day function was celebrated by DCC at Poonch. Ch. Zaffar Ullah, President DCC hoisted the National Flag. President Municipal councel Rajinder Singh kakka, Yashpal Sharma, Ch. Mohd. Younis & S. Gurdev Singh attended the function.
