BJP protests delay in Jammu civic polls | | | early times report Jammu, May 1: Alleging that the state government was "intentionally" delaying the Jammu Municipal Corporation polls, state BJP today held a protest outside Press Club here. During the last 64 years, elections to urban local bodies have been held only four times in Jammu and Kashmir, BJP state president Shamsher Singh Manhas said. The 73rd and 74th amendments were implemented in rest of the country, but Jammu and Kashmir government never tried to implement it here, Manhas said. Manhas also alleged, "there have been discrepancies in voter lists and voter identity cards."
