Gani favours action against corrupt bureaucrats | | | early times report Samba, May 1: Former Minister and member AICC Abdul Gani Vakil today sought action against politicians and bureaucrats who have amassed assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. Addressing a labour rally at Samba. Vakil said politicians and bureaucrats against whom corruption charges have been framed by State Accountability Commission (SAC) have rendered it (SAC) defunct by getting stay orders from the high court. "There is no alternative except setting up of an independent commission to probe into the disproportionate assets of ministers, ex- ministers, and other public servants across the board", he said. Vakil's suggestion needs to be considered seriously. Not only has the SAC, the vigilance organization also failed to nail the senior bureaucrats for obvious reasons. Records in anti-corruption courts reveal that the VO has been hooking small fish from the very beginning. The VO lacks the gut to trap the senior bureaucrats. And for the information of the authorities concerned, trapping them (senior bureaucrats) is not that difficult. Their assets, sprawling estates, farm houses, luxury cars speak volumes about their corrupt practices. Will the government wake up to rid the society of these parasites?
