| Chuni meets Div Com, demands redressal of refugees' issues | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 2: A deputation of POK Refugees today called on Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Pradeep Gupta and put forth problems of PoK refugees before him.
The deputation comprised of Rajiv Chuni, Dr. Gurmeet Singh, Suchwant Singh Roshan Singh and Roshan Lal.
Apprising the new incumbent Divisional Commissioner of the problems being faced by the POK refugees, the deputation stressed upon the need for Divisional Commissioner's visit to their camps to asses on the spot problems of the camp inmates. They said on spot inspection has been necessitated because of the constant neglect of these destitute refugees' camps for long past. They also stressed uniform rehabilitation policy for all the displaced persons irrespective of their caste, colour, creed, religion or region, while expressing anguish that certain politicians with vested interests are hell bent to ignore the genuine and just demands of POK refugees as the same would be against their personal interest. Commissioner assured the deputation that he is keen to do justice with PoK refugees. He said in a due course of time a meeting shall be called in his office involving the concerned government officers and representatives from PoK refugees to discuss the whole problems being faced by the refugees and to suggest some remedial measures in this regard.
He further said that all possible measures shall be taken to account to mitigate the sufferings of the community. |
