Yasir, Ishtiaq guide JKAP XI to easy 7-wkt win

JAMMU, May 3: Splendid innings played by Yasir and Ishtiaq today guided Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police (JKAP) XI to a big seven wicket win over Shiva Cricket Club, R S Pura to advance in the ongoing Ashok Sodhi Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at Parade Ground, here.
Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Shiva Club set a target of 115 runs for the loss of nine wickets, which, in reply, JKAP XI chased in just 11.4 overs losing only three wickets.
Kishore and Jyothi were main contributors to Shiva Club score with 24 and 23 runs in their respective accounts. From JKAP XI, Rohit Bhar dwaj was most successful bowler with four wickets while Sanjeet Kumar, Ashwani and Balwan shared apiece each.
Later, led by Inspector General of Police (Armed), Gulzar Singh Slathia, JKAP attained the goal making 118 runs for the loss of three wickets sparing 8.2 overs of their innings. It was because of splendid innings from Yasir and Ishtiaq which helped Police overhauled the target easily. While Yasir made 26-ball 45 runs studded with two sixes and six boundaries, Ishtiaq contributed 19-ball 42 hitting six hits to the fence and two over the rope. Sudesh and Vikram took one wicket each from Shiva Club.
Singh Club wins by 4 wkts
Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Singh Cricket Club (SCC) trounced Muslim Cricket Club (MCC) by four wickets.
Batting first, MCC bowled out for 130 runs in 19.4 overs with Munir being top scorer. He made 26-ball 43 runs including two sixes and three fours. Vicky contributed 19 runs while 20 other runs came through extras. From Singh Club, Roshan claimed three wickets, followed by Pankaj, who took two.
Four other batsmen were run out. In reply, SCC attained the goal of 131 runs in 17 overs for six wickets. Sunny remained highest run-getter with 31 (off 25 balls, 5x4) while Surinder made 25 runs, hitting three boundaries. From MCC, Kallu bagged three wickets while Munir and Amir shared one each.
