Rs. 2.5 cr earmarked for drinking water facilities :Bhalla | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 3 : Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today said that the Government has earmarked Rs. 2.5 crore for augmentation of drinking water facilities at Bhawani Vihar and Basant Vihar localities, adding that the deep drill tube well is nearing completion, while the work of laying of water supply pipes in the uncovered areas would be completed within a week's time. This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering at Bhawani Vihar in Trikuta Nagar, here today. Bhalla said for providing all infrastructural facilities and speedy development of every corner of the Bhawani Vihar and Basant Vihar, the Government has brought the areas under Municipal limit. He said government was committed to provide all basic amenities to the inhabitants of both the localities like safe drinking water, regular power supply, education, healthcare, road connectivity, besides better lanes and drains. On the occasion the Minister took stock of developmental needs of the area and listened to the problems of the locals. He issued on-the-spot instructions to concerned to take appropriate action meet their developmental needs. He said that Rs. 6.33 lakh has been already approved for widening of lanes by fixing iron grating over drains in the twin localities. He directed concerned officers and engineers to formulate plans under different sectors for improving basic facilities in these areas. Regarding construction of Multipurpose Hall, Bhalla called upon the people to identify the land so that the estimate for the project could be prepared for early fulfilment of their genuine demand. He asked the PDD to install sufficient poles in long distance span of Basant Vihar and Bhawani Vihar areas and replace worn out wires to avoid any mishap. The Minister informed that the government has submitted a proposal to Central Government under ADB Loan-2 for upgradation of all the receiving stations in city of temples, adding that after getting approval from GoI, the power infrastructure in Jammu will be upgraded in a big way. He said the Government has prepared a comprehensive proposal for construction/modernization of Deeli, Bathindi, Sunjwan and Trikuta Nagar nallahs for which the work would be started after conducting survey by deputed central team by November this year under ADB Loan-2 funding. Listing the new prestigious projects being started in the Gandhi Nagar Constituency, the Minister informed that Government has earmarked Rs. 8 crore for construction of 500 seated capacity fully air-conditioned auditorium near Government Girls High School, Gandhi Nagar, adding with the completion of this ambitious project, the students could organize extra co-curricular activities like cultural progr ammes, seminars, debating and symposium contests there. He said the work on prestigious State- of- the- Art auditorium is under progress and would be completed by the end of this year. He said Government has also earmarked Rs. 6 crore for construction of Teachers Bhawan to provide accommodation to the teachers of far off areas visiting the winter capital for official purposes. Bhalla said directions have been issued to the executing agency to complete both the projects within stipulated time frame for extending timely benefits to the students and teachers. |
